Mr. Baig was invited as a panelist at the International Conference on Inclusive Growth through Innovative HR Practices and Alternative Finance at ITM, Navi Mumbai on 20th February, 2016. Industry thought leaders & senior human resources professionals from across industries that included IT & ITes, BFSI, Manufacturing, Infrastructure & Construction and services sector graced the occasion.
The panel discussion underlined the significance of innovative HR practices targeting equity, sustainability, productivity and empowerment of employees to achieve inclusive growth. Panelists expressed their views on the role of HR as a strategic tool in promoting inclusion within organizations and the investments by leadership obliged to build inclusive organizations. The panel members spoke about cross cultural challenges, capacity building, skill development of human capital as some of the innovative HR practices.
During the panel discussion, Mr. Baig highlighted Octaware’s success story of inclusive growth at this International Conference. Retrospecting this victory, he talked about how Octaware empowered the visually challenged at NABET making them employable. Octaware employees demonstrated their unique skills while actively participating with the NABET team at various stages of the project. Initially, the QA team at Octaware worked on building the curriculum, and later, senior QA leads conducted training for trainers over a period of three weeks on manual and accessibility testing. In addition, the QA team along with a senior project manager functioned as observers for the smooth delivery of product accessibility testing. In sum, the NABET project was a unique experience for Octaware since it not only allowed our employees to effectively apply their skills but also helped us in achieving our organizational objective of boosting employee motivation.
