Dr. Mohammed Aslam Khan

Aslam Khan is the Founder, Chairman, and Managing Director of Octaware Technologies. He is an experienced technologist, result-oriented business leader, and visionary social entrepreneur with a proven track record of leading strategy development and execution, to deliver rapid growth and scalable sustained profitability.

Driven by his passion for entrepreneurship, he is a staunch believer in the idea of economic and social development through entrepreneurship. Aslam has carried this belief into his vision for Octaware and its group companies – “To serve, add value and create growth for individuals, businesses and social entities”.

Prior to the inception of Octaware in 2005, he was the Director of AskMe Corporation – Seattle, where he established AskMe’s wholly-owned subsidiary in India, which was later acquired by RealCom Software Inc., Japan. Before AskMe, he worked at Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, USA as a lead developer on the Windows2000 family of products. Earlier on, he worked at Citibank N.A., Japan, developing software for financial trading platforms.

A self-taught serial entrepreneur and socially responsible investor, he has strived towards establishing numerous healthcare businesses, including a multi-specialty hospital and rehabilitation centre in India. His philanthropic contributions are channeled through RIDA Foundation – a BSE-Sammaan CSR Exchange listed Charitable Trust he has created, along with a group of academic, medical, and corporate professionals, to improve the quality of life of the needy through meaningful education and medical assistance. He is also leading an initiative to promote entrepreneurship and innovation through a business incubator and accelerator facility for start-ups. He was instrumental in conceptualizing and building a Quality Assurance Lab for the National Association of Blind (Employment &Training) to generate employment opportunities for the Visually Challenged in the IT industry.

Aslam holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Mumbai, a Master of Research from Lancaster University, UK, a Ph.D. in Business Management from the University of Finance, Business, and Entrepreneurship, Sofia, and completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship at Markfield Institute of Higher Education, Leicestershire, UK. He has completed a yearlong SEED Transformation Program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a One-Year Advanced Management Program at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. Aslam has secured executive education at Harvard Business School, MIT’s Sloan School of Management, Said Business School of Oxford University, and Judge Business School of Cambridge University.

In addition to his entrepreneurial pursuits, Aslam has been invited to address various forums, including NASSCOM, IIT Bombay, and Harvard University, USA.

He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), sponsored by the Government of India, and convenor of the Maharashtra chapter. He has been the leader of a multi-sectoral business delegation accompanying the Hon. President of India and a member of a high-powered business delegation led by the Hon. Prime Minister of India.  

Aslam Khan’s brainchild, Octaware Technologies Limited, got listed on the BSE –SME platform in April 2017, and Transpact Enterprises Limited made a landmark beginning by becoming the 1st Start-up listed on the BSE Start-up platform in September 2019. The listing of Transpact at BSE made the third listing in a row for three consecutive years, which has set a record entry in the London World Book of Records.
